What Will Michelle Obama Wear: Inauguration '09

It seems that every fashion designer on the face of the Earth has submitted a design for Michelle Obama to wear to the Inaugural Ball, and rightfully so.  Our next First Lady has been stylistically compared to the likes of the legendary Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis which is a huge honor and creates high expectations for Mrs. Obama.  The fashion world is on pins and needles as we anxiously await the huge decision.  The First Lady To Be's choice will make a statement, and it will likely guide the course of American Fashion over they next few seasons.  If she sticks with her usual M.O. the dress will be elegant but not overly extravagant. With designers from Karl Lagerfeld to Betsey Johnson submitting designs, so tough decisions must be made but I'm sure Mrs. Obama won't disapoint.  Some of my favorites include a boatneck, cap sleeve Marc Jacobs, the asymetrical, belted waist Michael Kors and Monique Lhuillier gowns, and the more elegant play on the traditional DVF rap dress.  Fashion First...Muah!

Fashion TV in 2009

2009 is shaping up to be one of the best years for fashion on television.  I am particularly a fan of reality t.v. and two shows that will definatly bring the style and fresh looks for the new year: MTV's Daddy's Girls and The City.  Daddy's Girls is a spinoff of the popular Run's House starring Rev. Run Simmons and his family.  Daddy's Girls will star Vanessa and Angela Simmons and highlight there life in LA.  The City is a spinoff of The Hills.  Former Hills cast member Whitney is moving to the Big Apple to accept a position with Diane von Furstenberg.  Check the trailers...

Make sure you tune in on Monday, December 29th for The City @10p and Monday, January 5th @ 10:30p both on MTV.  Fashion First...Muah!

Steal Her Style: Beyoncé Diva Video Edition

Soooo...I absolutely adore the new Beyonce "DIVA" video.  The song + styling + B = hotness.  Some of the more editorial looks are reminiscent of Gareth Pugh's Spring 2009 Paris collection with its futuristic designs, uses of leather, and meticulous styling. Check the stills from the flyest look of the video. This is a look I know everyone, including me would love to steal so I did just that. Fashion First...Muah!

Pre-Fall 2009...What We Love

Fashion is evolving.  Designers are no longer restricted to the strict fall and spring highly-anticipated arrivals, and as a result more and more pre-season collections are popping up throughout the industry. Here are my top five pieces from what look to be the most promising collections for the Pre-Fall 2009 collections.  Fashion First...Muah!

5. Dolce & Gabbana
Stefano and Domenico haven't strayed far from their well-tailored, carefully detailed staple designs.  Contrasting a beautiful, feminine silhouette in skirts and dresses with more masculine fabrics like grey tweeds and flannel have birthed a ingenious collection.

4. Vera Wang
Vera Wang presented looks with clever embellishments and a boyish charm.  Sticking to a darker palette and only opting to use color in a few select pieces made dresses like the one above statement items.  She paired free-flowing tunics and dresses with structured jackets.  This dichotomy makes for an interesting, yet wearable collection.

3. Calvin Kline
Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein proved that nothing could be more chic than subdued tones and not-so-subtle manipulation of fabrics and textures.  Pleating and the clever use of lines and the structural, architectural undertones add to the futuristic nature of the collection, and the future looks bright.

2. Oscar de la Renta
If Oscar de la Renta's Pre-Fall collection is anything it's wearable.  This collection is full of textured separates, meticulously crafted skirts (which I adore), and a few feathered, flirty frocks for the occasional party.  His play on texture like in the bodice and skirt of the piece above along with the textured knits were the highlight of collection.  If his goal was to make me forget about any economic crisis with clothes that are indulgent and extravagant: mission accomplished.

...and drumroll please...

1. J. Mendel

Gilles Mendel for J. Mendel with his pre-fall collection dominates eveningwear.  He captured simplicity and sheer elegance which makes the ultimate statement: less is really so much more.  His use of the draping and the transformation of such from day to evening is exciting, and the Mendel's larger proportions for "real women with real bodies" makes me love this collection even more.

Celeb Fab Right Now

Angela Simmons is one of the most underrated, yet uniquely fab celebrities today. Yes, did become famous due to her father, yet she has managed to use this status to become a mini mogul. She not only has her Pasty sneaker line, which recently added bags and clothes, but she also is the Executive Editor of Angela's Rundown, a 16-page insert in Word Up! Magazine. And soon she will be stepping into the music world releasing her debut album. That's major moves. I'm trying to get like her! And the entire family will be back for another season of Run's House on July 16th.

Quotes I'm Feeling Right Now

Sometime it's hard to put feelings into perfectly crafted sentences, and form intelligible paragraphs with the hopes that others will read it and understand. For these times quotes work as tools to communicate ones innermost thoughts and feelings, perfectly. Less, at times, is really more. So these are just some of the things I'm feeling at the time...

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right. You believe less so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together"-Marylin Monroe

"Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."

"Confidence, wear it like make up"

"A lot of horrible, unfair, untrue things have been said about me. All I can say is that the best revenge is success." -Kate Moss

"A girl should always be two things: classy and fabulous" -Coco Chanel

"We need to let ourselves become the unique individuals God created us to be. We need to stop trying to be what everyone else wants us to be and stop worrying about what everyone else thinks."

"Pick Me. Choose Me. Love Me."-Grey's Anatomy

"The heart has reasons that reason cannot know."

"Always Make New Mistakes"

"You Only Get What You Give"

“We come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly”

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

"There has never been anything false about hope"

"The Audacity of Hope"

"Fabulous is as fabulous does" -Kimora Lee Simmons
